i built this banjo several years ago when i first began to learn to play on a borrowed instrument. i took to it quickly and realized this sculpture as a means to owning my own banjo and explore a purer form of barter.

the firebrand is a totem that draws creative energy. i will trade it for a real, american-made banjo of any condition. that banjo will become a part of my daily creative practice that will, in-turn, draw creative energy—a fair exchange for the person that sees the truth in this.
